Royal Wedding $5.00The Pitcairn Islands Philatelic Bureau has issued on April 9 2005, a single Royal Wedding stamp to commemorate the marriage of HRH The Prince of Wales and Mrs. Camilla Parker Bowles.

The civil ceremony was held at the Guildhall, Windsor prior to the Service of Prayer and Dedication in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The Guildhall is a landmark building, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and adjacent to the castle. It has been Windsor’s Town Hall since 1690. The venue enabled the public to see The Prince of Wales and Mrs. Parker Bowles arrive and depart from the Guildhall.

Prince of Wales FeathersThe Service of Prayer and Dedication in St. George’s Chapel was presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury and attended by around 700 guests. Following the Service, Her Majesty The Queen gave a reception in the State Apartments at Windsor Castle after which, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall left Windsor for Scotland.

Mrs. Parker Bowles chose Robinson Valentine to design her outfit and Philip Treacy to design her hat. Mrs. Parker Bowles’s hairdresser was Hugh Green of Hugh and Stephen. The designers and the hairdresser are based in London.

In keeping with royal tradition, the gold for the wedding rings of The Prince of Wales and Mrs. Parker Bowles came from the Clogau St. David’s mine in Bontddu, North Wales. Royal Wedding FDCIt was mined by Cambrian Goldfields Ltd. Previous royal wedding rings were made from 22 ct gold from the same mine. The rings were made to a traditional design by Wartski, a privately owned jewellery company based in London. Established in 1865, Wartski has held the Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales since 1979.

Mrs. Parker Bowles will use the title HRH The Duchess of Cornwall after marriage. It is intended that Mrs. Parker Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne.
